SCARBOROUGH, Maine — Jaws has apparently made his way north this summer.
A drone captured footage of a great white shark lurking off some of Maine’s most popular beaches earlier this week and local authorities felt compelled to issue a warning.
The approximate 10-to-12 foot shark was seen lurking off a trio of beaches, including Pine Point Beach, Higgins Beach and Crescent Beach State Park, according to the Associated Press . Each of the aforementioned beaches are roughly a half-hour drive from the Portland area.
Commercial clam fisherman David Lancaster was credited with taking the drone footage.
Great white sharks are not commonly seen off the coast of Maine, although, according to the AP, scientists believe the increased population of seals has caused an uptick in the sea creature
