DENVER (KDVR) — A Leadville school was placed on lockdown on Wednesday after a "physical altercation" early in the day that resulted in suspensions.
The school district shared that the altercation was between a returning student and a student who was new to the school. The students were suspended and sent home for the day, as determined by the school's discipline protocols.
At about midday, the students had a second confrontation "at a location in the community not near the school," according to the district's message. One student was injured during the confrontation and taken to a hospital. The district said the student has since been released from the hospital and is expected to make a full recovery.
