A 20-year-old prisoner escaped from the custody of corrections officers at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport on Tuesday evening. Authorities are actively searching for John Nino, who fled while being transported through the airport shortly before 8 p.m.

Nino is described as 6 feet 2 inches tall and weighing 154 pounds. At the time of his escape, he was wearing a red coat and gray sweatpants. Officers last saw him crossing railroad tracks and heading toward Highway 99.

The Washington Department of Corrections reported that Nino was on community supervision for second-degree robbery. A warrant for his arrest was issued in June after he failed to meet with his community corrections officer. He had been arrested in New Mexico days before his escape while being returned to Washington.

This incident marks the second escape from custody at Sea-Tac Airport this year. In May, 29-year-old Sedric Stevenson escaped while being transported across state lines and evaded capture for over six weeks. U.S. Marshal Donrien Stephens commented on Stevenson's case, stating, "This arrest sends a clear message: no matter how long it takes or how far someone runs, justice will catch up with them."

Following Nino's escape, authorities are urging the public not to approach him if spotted. Instead, they ask that any sightings be reported to law enforcement. The investigation into the escape is being led by the Washington Department of Corrections.
