TOOMBS COUNTY, Ga. ( WTO C/Gray News) - A high school student in Georgia has found himself in a federal detention center after reportedly failing to stop at a stop sign.
Loved ones say Roberto Itzep-Caba, 18, was on his way to Toombs County High School after dropping his mother off at work last week when a Lyons police officer pulled him over for a reported traffic violation.
Police arrested Itzep-Cab for driving unlicensed and took him to the Toombs County Jail.
A Toombs County Sheriff confirmed that the 18-year-old has no previous criminal record.
The sheriff also said that when Itzep-Caba’s fingerprints were taken at the jail, the system immediately sent the prints to federal agencies, including immigration.
