CINCINNATI — A Cincinnati man who has been charged locally for his involvement in a July brawl is now facing a federal charge.

Merriweather is also facing local charges of assault, felonious assault and aggravated riot at a local level

If convicted of the federal firearm charge, he could receive up to 15 years in prison

Montanez Merriweather, 34, was indicted by a grand jury Wednesday for illegally possessing a firearm as a previously convicted felon, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of Ohio.

The indictment states Merriweather possessed a 9mm pistol. As a previously convicted felon, he's not allowed to possess firearms.
