PHOENIX — The wreckage of a missing plane has been found near Phoenix, FAA officials said.
On Aug. 13, authorities notified the FAA that the wreckage of a Pitts S-1T was found southwest of Phoenix. According to the FAA, only the pilot was on board.
The Goodyear Police Department received a report of a missing person last seen operating a privately owned single-engine plane around 11:15 a.m. on Aug. 12. The plane reportedly took off from Phoenix-Goodyear Airport.
MCSO said Wednesday that its helicopter found the plane crash scene near Ocotillo and Bullard. The sheriff's office is the primary investigation unit for the wreckage and is coordinating with the NTSB.
