TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) - The Tucson Police Department announced the arrest of a man who now faces more than a dozen counts of animal cruelty.

The TPD says officers responded to an apartment to assist Pima Animal Care Center with an animal abuse investigation. Several dogs, including one deceased, had been left outside on an enclosed porch for days without food, clean water, or proper shelter.

Police say the dogs appeared thin and malnourished.

While PACC officers were on scene, the owner returned, briefly moved the dogs inside, took some with him, and left without speaking to PACC.

TPD officers responded to help rescue the remaining animals and located the owner nearby.

He was arrested and booked into the Pima County Jail. He faces 15 felony counts of animal cruelty.
