The New York Yankees fans received a crushing blow on Wednesday when veteran first baseman Paul Goldschmidt was ruled out of Game 3 against the Minnesota Twins due to a right knee injury. The 37-year-old reportedly injured his right knee while rounding first base after catching a pop-up in Game 2.
When asked about the extent of Goldschmidt’s injury and whether the 7-time All-Star could be placed on the Injury List, manager Aaron Boone said they would wait 24 hours before making a call.
“Could be an IL, could be a day-to-day, we will see over the next 24 hours which way we will go with it,” Boone said after Wednesday’s 4-1 loss to the Twins.
