KERR COUNTY, Texas — The family of Jayda Floyd, a juvenile probation officer from Ector County who died in the deadly Central Texas floods over the Fourth of July weekend , has filed a lawsuit against an RV park, alleging negligence .
The wrongful death lawsuit, filed in Kerr County, seeks more than a million dollars in damages from HTR Texas Hill Country Campground, where Floyd was staying. The suit claims the park failed to issue adequate flood warnings or provide an evacuation plan as flash flooding swept through the area.
“This is a negligence case,” said the family’s attorney, Jon Clark. “A reasonable company in a similar situation would have acted differently and more safely to protect guests. The defendants are the owners and managers of the campground.”
