Motorists in Ayrshire are being warned to expect disruption as 10 weeks of roadworks on the A77 begin on Wednesday, August 20. ‌

Starting on Wednesday and running until October, temporary traffic lights will be in place at Kennedy's Pass as "essential replacements" are made to the Vehicle Restraint System (VRS). ‌

Located around four miles south of Girvan , the works are expected to last around 10 weeks before finishing on Tuesday, October 28. ‌

The VRS includes guardrails and barriers which are designed to prevent vehicles from leaving the carriageway and colliding with roadside hazards.

Last month, work on the VRS on the southbound carriageway was undertaken and lasted just over two weeks.
