A cat is recovering at a Bergen County animal rescue after being saved from the median of a busy North Jersey highway. Per the Ramapo-Bergen Animal Refuge , he will eventually be available for adoption.
The calls came in to police on the morning of Aug. 12 that a terrified stray was spotted along Route 280 in Newark. The cat, since named Conan, was hunkered down on the median of the highway, unable to escape as traffic sped by.
Soon after, New Jersey State Troopers were able to reach Conan and bring him to safety, RBARI said. Through coordination with Paterson Animal Control, he was transferred to RBARI for immediate medical care.
