The Horn fire in southern Madison County quickly grew to over 2,000 acres on Wednesday afternoon.

The fire located between Cliff Lake and Highway 287 was caused by lightning, officials with the Department of Natural Resources and Conservation said. Fire officials are reporting no containment.

There are resources working the fire from the Montana DNRC, along with U.S. Forest Service engines, two helicopters and air attack.

"Yesterday, the Horn Fire was reported around 2:30 pm," a Thursday morning release on the fire said. "Multiple local, state, and federal crews engaged in suppression efforts of the grass fire. Crews worked through the night as winds eased down and stopped the rapid rate of spread."
