ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Minn. — A woman died Wednesday after she was found unresponsive in Lake Vermilion.
The St. Louis County Sheriff's Office shared in a press release Thursday that a 911 call came in around 6 p.m. Wednesday on Blueberry Island. Family members started CPR and first responders were able to take over and transport the 80-year-old woman to a local hospital.
The sheriff's office identified the woman as Marit Smaby-Nowlin, a St. Paul resident who was visiting the area while on vacation. She died at the hospital.
