Hopeless and defeated, a lonely pup stood on the street. Unable to use his back legs because of the pain from his injury, he felt completely powerless.

The sorrow he carried was clear in his beautiful eyes.

Just when he thought there was no hope left, something wonderful happened.

Rescuers from Stray Rescue of St. Louis , a Missouri-based organization, were driving through the neighborhood when they noticed the scared dog. The moment they saw his hunched posture, they realized something was wrong.

The pup, later named Guillermo de la Cruz, looked at them with sorrowful puppy eyes, as if pleading for them to take him somewhere safe.
