Dallas Cowboys Head Coach Brian Schottenheimer told reporters he was diagnosed with thyroid cancer in 2002 at the age of 28.

He was an assistant coach for the San Diego Chargers at the time and said connections in the NFL helped point him in the direction of doctors who successfully removed the cancer with surgery.

Schottenheimer's comments came after team owner Jerry Jones disclosed his own battle with Stage 4 melanoma from 2010 to 2020.
