YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) - A local theater is kicking off its monumental 101st season with a show that tackles an uncomfortable yet all too common subject with raw, brutal honesty.
"People, Places & Things" opens this coming weekend at the Youngstown Playhouse. The play, written by Duncan Macmillan in 2015, focuses on an actress with a serious drug addiction named Emma.
The audience is introduced to Emma during a performance of "The Seagull" that goes terribly wrong and morphs into her journey to get clean, hallucinations, detox, and all, and the audience is there for every minute of the highs, lows, and underlying trauma.
