Alabama Sees Strong Improvement in Unemployment Claims
Alabama, August 14, 2025 – Alabama’s unemployment situation is showing significant improvement, according to a recent study by WalletHub. Last week, unemployment claims in the state were 10.56% lower than the previous week and 9.80% lower than the same week last year.
Overall, Alabama ranks third among all U.S. states for the largest decreases in unemployment claims. The state earned the second spot for week-over-week declines and also ranked second for cumulative unemployment claims in 2025 compared to the same period last year.
While the state’s progress is encouraging, WalletHub notes that Alabama ranks 23rd in the nation for unemployment claims per 100,000 people in the labor force, showing there is still work to be done.
