HARDEEVILLE, Sc. (WTOC) - Thousands of drivers going through I-95 will soon see it transformed into six lanes because of a record-breaking $825 million contract signed by the South Carolina Department of Transportation.

Georgia and South Carolina leaders were in Hardeeville today at the Welcome Center off the major interstate, packing together inside to celebrate the historic groundbreaking event.

For families and commercial trucks passing through, from Maine to Miami, improving safety and decreasing the amount of delays is the goal for widening I-95 from U.S. Highway 278 to the Savannah River, which is about 10 total miles of work.
