California Gov. Gavin Newsom is "fighting fire with fire" in his plan for battling back against the GOP's remapping of Texas congressional districts.

Newsom was set to release his plan of response Thursday in Los Angeles, and in the lead up, the governor has been using some of President Trump’s own rhetoric, calling it "Liberation Day."

Newsom has made a number of statements recently using some of the president’s grandiose expressions, knowing it could likely get under Trump’s skin. It’s a direct response to the president’s efforts in Texas and elsewhere that the GOP-led legislatures are poised to follow through with his requests to redraw congressional maps.
