Incredible scenes see a US Air Force display team zooming by Mount Rushmore.

The Thunderbirds demonstration squadron performed a photo chase at the national memorial in South Dakota on July 25.

The showcase was part of celebrations leading up to America’s 250th birthday next year on July 4.

U.S. Air Force said: "The Thunderbirds performed this photo chase to showcase independence and freedom."

Mount Rushmore is a granite sculpture featuring the 60-foot-high faces of four U.S. presidents—George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt, and Abraham Lincoln—symbolising the nation's founding and development.
