Seven Florida Department of Corrections officers are facing charges in connection with the alleged beating of an inmate at a facility in Miami-Dade, records showed.
The alleged beating happened back on April 5 at Dade Correctional Institution in Florida City.
According to arrest warrants, Lt. Shentrica Clark, a supervisor with the facility's Transitional Care Unit, had ordered other officers to escort the inmate, 30-year-old Christopher Castro, to her office.
Castro later told investigators he assumed Clark wanted to speak with him about an incident that happened earlier in the day where Castro was accused of threatening an officer with a knife, the warrants said.
