Like any place, some things don’t seem to change in Murrieta. The summers are too hot, there are too many commuters, and tract homes dominate.

Oops, forgot another one — the Golden Triangle sits empty.

It’s 64 acres between the 215 and 15 freeways, and it’s called golden because it’s presumably very valuable.

Given that it hasn’t been developed yet, perhaps Empty Triangle would be a better name. Or the Bermuda Triangle, because it’s where all development proposals go to die.

Since she was elected in 2020, Murrieta City Councilperson Lori Stone has been attending the giant International Conference of Shopping Centers in Las Vegas.

“At ICSC, the Golden Triangle is the number one sought-after property in So Cal,” she said.
