CHARLOTTE (QUEEN CITY NEWS) -- The North Carolina State Highway Patrol has launched a new traffic safety campaign aimed at preventing future tragedies after six people lost their lives in late July on Interstate-485 in west Charlotte.
The campaign, called “I-485 Alive,” is a 90-day enforcement and education effort focused on improving driver behavior and reducing crashes along the busy highway. This comes just as federal investigators released details about the deadly wreck that happened on July 26 near the Dixie River Road overpass, just west of the Charlotte Douglas International Airport.
