The victim found dead in a fire last month in Albia was identified as 61-year-old Kelly Rae Cummings, according to a news release from the Monroe County Sheriff's Office.
Cummings' remains were found the day after the fire in her apartment at 14 Washington Avenue E. in Albia. An autopsy revealed she died of natural causes before the fire started.
The two incidents appear to be unrelated, according to the release.
The fire took place July 14 at the historic R.O. Cramer building along the Albia town square. The historic building, built in 1884, is considered a total loss and there was little left standing. It had businesses on the first floor and apartments on the upper level.
