CHESTERFIELD, Va. (WWBT) - Inside Midlothian High School on Thursday morning, Chesterfield County Public Schools demonstrated its new weapons detection system, which will be in place in all their middle and high schools.

Rising senior Matthew Do is excited to go back to class.

“I’m looking forward to just being able to see my friends again, get into my new classes and hopefully have a great senior year and last year of high school,” he said.

One change Do will have to get used to for the new school year is going through a weapons detection system, which will be in place at three different entrances around Midlothian High School.

“I think we all understand that it’s necessary for our safety,” he said.
