PITTSYLVANIA COUNTY, Va. (WDBJ) - The suspect in the wounding of three Pittsylvania County Sheriff’s deputies has been formally charged.
James Andru Lehnerd is charged with felony attempted aggravated murder of a law enforcement officer, according to court records. He also faces charges of pointing/brandishing a firearm and trespassing.
Lehnerd was taken into custody Wednesday, August 13, after sheriff’s deputies were hurt with shrapnel while trying to serve warrants in the 600 block of Blue Jay Ln. Lehnerd allegedly fired at the deputies when they showed up at his door.
Lehnerd was scheduled to be arraigned Thursday, August 14.
