Center Line High School 2025 graduate Avery Masch never expected an elective welding class would spark her artistic talent.

But it was in Joseph Dizakowski’s room that Masch’s creativity began to blossom.

“One of the first projects we did in the class was torch cutting our name out of sheet metal,” said Masch. “Then we started doing plasma cutting and I started doing some other small pieces and I loved doing it and kept doing more.

“My teacher approached me about doing a bigger project.”

Masch signed up for the class because she needed an elective on her senior year class schedule and none of the computer classes appealed to her. She didn’t know a lot about welding but was intrigued.
