RED BAY, Ala. ( WAFF ) - A mother and her two daughters were found dead after an apparent murder-suicide at an apartment complex in Red Bay on Wednesday evening.
According to Red Bay Police Chief Janna Jackson, the apartment is located on Eugenia Nixon Circle as part of the Red Bay Housing Authority.
After officers responded to the apartment on Wednesday evening, they made entry and found three women dead inside.
Chief Jackson identified the three women as 59-year-old Theresa Sappington, 28-year-old Leigha Moody, and 23-year-old Derick Moody.
Jackson told 48 News Reporter Kalee Kneiss that investigators believe Derick Moody beat her mother and sister to death with a baseball bat before committing suicide.
She says a baseball bat and a gun were recovered from the scene.
