The rescue of a person in a “high-risk” incident on a St. Thomas bridge underscores the pressures police face in responding to individuals with health crisis, the city police say.
St. Thomas police officers, including critical incident responders and crisis negotiators, safely resolved a call about a person in crisis on the railway bridge overlooking Athletic Park on Wednesday night, police said Thursday.
“We ensure that our members are highly trained professionals who rely on skill, patience, compassion and teamwork when responding to complex and unpredictable situations,” a police release said.
“The outcome of last night’s call underscores the pressures police services face in responding to individuals in health crisis – situations that are often unpredictable, emotionally charged a
