Chesterfield school officials presented the county’s new weapons detection system on Thursday at Midlothian High School.

Earlier this year, the school board unanimously approved the plan to install the scanners at all middle and high schools in the county. At Midlothian, there will be three different entrance points for students to walk through the scanners; one at the main entrance and two at the bus loop.

According to the CCPS website, both students and school visitors will be required to walk through the freestanding pillars in order to enter the building. Those with official county badges will not have to do so.
