It’s impossible to watch the attempted dismantling of democracy, and not want to retaliate. But the idea of blue states like New York resorting to extreme gerrymandering because a red state like Texas is doing so should be deeply disturbing to all who care about democracy.

Texas’ blatantly partisan congressional redistricting gambit – at the specific behest of President Trump, who claims he is “entitled to five more seats” – is not anything New York should take as a good example.
