LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Louisville Mayor Craig Greenberg says city leaders are taking action after a mother was fatally shot at a bus stop on Wednesday.

Redaja Williams, 23, was walking her daughter to the bus stop when she was fatally shot.

No suspects have been identified, according to Louisville Metro Police (LMPD).

During a live interview Thursday on WHAS11, Greenberg said it’s still too early to determine a motive in the fatal shooting.

“Certainly, we have had a lot of targeted shootings that are gang-related in this community,” he added. “We need to make sure that when people in this community pick up a gun and use it for the wrong reason, to commit a violent crime, they will be held accountable. There will be punishments that are measured in many years, not just in a few months.”
