YOUNGSTOWN A 14-year-old who was robbed while operating a lemonade stand will be recognized for his business efforts during a news conference.
Guy Burney, of Community Initiative to Reduce Violence (CIRV), and local businessman Herb Washington are organizing the event scheduled for Friday morning in the Northside neighborhood where the robbery occurred.
The teen flagged down a police officer on Monday, August 11, after a male suspect, also 14, allegedly robbed him at gunpoint.
Police later arrested the suspect, who was charged with aggravated robbery. The stolen money was recovered and returned to the victim.
The teen and his mother will be at the news conference to receive the reward. The event aims to promote the idea that making positive choices can lead to a good outcome.
