Barring a major implosion, which doesn’t seem likely, the Blue Jays will be involved in the kind of pressure cookers that unfolded in Thursday afternoon’s rubber match against the visiting Chicago Cubs.

Another sold-out crowd was on hand on a day the Rogers Centre roof was open for a classic pitchers’ duel, a day when the game’s margins were very thin in a 2-1 Blue Jays victory. It was the definition of playoff baseball, when the stress factor reaches an extreme level, and made for a fun day at the ballpark.

Max Scherzer is looking awfully good, his penchant for giving up homers notwithstanding. No question he’ll get a start once the post-season arrives, maybe more than one in a potential series.
