OPELOUSAS, LA (KLFY) – Two people were arrested in connection with the death of Awen Fontenot, which occurred in the 1200 block of Newman Street, police said.

Police said they arrested Lorenza Fontenot and Joseph Sonnier. Lorenza Fontenot is charged with first degree murder, armed robbery and failure to seek assistance. While Sonnier is charged with accessory to first degree murder, obstruction of justice and failure to seek assistance.

On Monday, officers said they responded to a report of a medical emergency at the residence. Upon arrival, officers located man later identified as Awen Fontenot, lying on the floor suffering from what appeared to be multiple stab wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.
