AUGUSTA — Every year, the state of Maine works to help at least 100 veterans get jobs in 100 days with at least 100 different companies.

Day one of this year’s campaign kicked off Thursday.

The Maine Department of Labor launched its annual Hire-A-Vet campaign at the Augusta Civic Center.

“We kick off here in Augusta every year, and then we find three other locations to hold various events,” said Leo Deon, Maine Department of Labor Veterans Programs Manager.

The campaign’s inaugural event featured more than 130 employers and even more job seekers.
