VIRGINIA, USA — A new report from the Congressional Budget Office says millions of Americans could lose SNAP benefits after new expanded work requirements go into effect, due to federal laws that aim to crack down on SNAP fraud.

The new work requirements include, but are not limited to, changing the age from 54 to 64 for able-bodied adults and eliminating exclusions from work requirements for veterans.

However, Tori Stamps from the Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia and the Eastern Shore said the SNAP program is successful, noting they shouldn’t be making any cuts; if anything, they say more money should go into the program.

“The first word that came to my mind is 'outrageous.' SNAP is a very successful program, it is the number one defense against hunger in the entire United States,”
