LEE CO., Ill. (KWQC) - A man died after a motorcycle crash in Lee County on Saturday, marking the fourth death in one intersection in two months.

Around 7 p.m., deputies with the Lee County Sheriff’s Office went to Illinois Route 251 and Chicago Road in rural Compton for a motorcycle crash with injuries.

Investigators learned 67-year-old Alan Klimas of North Aurora was driving on Route 251 with a group of motorcyclists toward the intersection with Chicago Road.

Deputies said the pavement was wet from a thunderstorm that had passed through the area and the group realized they needed to turn left on Chicago Road late.

Because of this, officials said, Klimas crashed his motorcycle on the pavement, causing major injuries.

He was taken to a local hospital, where he died.
