A judge has rejected a dad's claim that a police uniform stash in the boot of a hire car was for a Butlin's fancy dress bash. Ross Brallisford, 32, was travelling with two other men in a hire car when he was pulled over by police in Castleford, West Yorkshire, on April 2. The Hartlepool man was stopped "because of the manner of his driving" on Carson Street in the town centre.
When police opened the car boot they found a police baton, the uniforms and masks, a blue light, stab vests, handcuffs, and a fake police radio and body worn cameras. Brallisford told officers that he had agreed to take his friend "to a probation appointment and that they were driving round looking for a sunbed shop." He said he had never worn the uniform but that he planned to use it at the Butlin's party.
