Inote with sadness the passing of Sharon Jones, a valued member of the White Rock and South Surrey community of musicians, and a strong supporter of music activities on the Peninsula.

The retired teacher, who passed away at the age of 84 on July 10, had a passion for the outdoor life and had been a strong contributor to such environmental organizations as Friends of Semiahmoo Bay, Shorekeepers, the David Hancock Foundation, the Semiahmoo Fish and Game Hatchery, and the White Rock and Surrey Naturalists.

But it is her contributions to music I most remember, not just as an active participant in music-making – for some 40 years she played a variety of recorders with the White Rock-based Sandpipers group – but also in the key areas of organizing concerts and attending events as an unabashed
