Three days after initially turning down a plea deal, 21-year-old Kurtis Elliot returned to a Volusia County courtroom and agreed to resolve his case.
Judge Blackburn asked Elliot during the hearing, “You were here a couple of days ago, had indicated to the court you wanted to proceed to trial. Have you now had additional time to think about your options and discuss your case again with Mr. Decker?”
Elliot’s attorney, Scott Decker, spoke with WESH 2 after the hearing.
“Ideal would be if he walked. But he decided to take it,” Decker said.
The case stems from a 2023 shooting at Aftershine Auto Spa in Holly Hill. Investigators say an argument between Elliot and 24-year-old Lawrence Davis turned physical, resulting in Davis being shot.
