A teenage boy has been arrested on suspicion of murder and rape after a 13-year-old girl died in West Yorkshire.

Police were called by the ambulance service to an address on Sheepridge Road, in Huddersfield at 11.36pm on August 11 to a report that the teenage girl was unresponsive.

She was rushed to hospital from the scene where she died in the early hours of Tuesday morning (August 12). Investigations are ongoing but her cause of death remains unexplained, West Yorkshire Police said.

A 16-year-old boy from Huddersfield was arrested on suspicion of murder and rape and remains in police custody to be questioned by detectives.
