LUBBOCK, Texas — Could Texas Tech's tortilla tossing tradition be in jeopardy?
According to Yahoo Sports’ Ross Dellenger, Big 12 athletic directors voted this week, 15-1, "to solidify an existing game management policy related to the throwing of items onto the playing surface." A team will receive a warning for the first two violations in a game before 15-yard penalties could be assessed.
The wide-ranging move would affect the longstanding tortilla tossing tradition at Texas Tech, where students fling the tortillas during kickoffs at games. According to Dellenger, the new policy would allow for tortillas to be thrown at opening kickoff but will result in a warning. A third incident may result in a penalty.
If you were curious who the one dissenting vote was, you won't have to look far
