YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK — So far this year, fewer campers are choosing to stay in Yellowstone National Park campgrounds, instead favoring concessioners' offerings, at least that's what the National Park Service's online Stats Page says.

The website does caution that the numbers are preliminary and subject to change, however they show a nearly 30% drop in recreational vehicle camping through July when compared to 2024.

Overnight tent stays have declined by 21% compared to last year. Backcountry camping stays have fallen by almost 2%.

"Occupation is likely higher than what irma shows," said Linda Veress, public affairs specialist at Yellowstone, in an email referring to the website, irma.nps.gov .
