AKRON, Ohio (WOIO) - US Senator from Ohio Jon Husted has his sights set on the fight against human trafficking as he discussed Senate Bill 2241 with Akron community leaders.

“It’s in the dark corners of our society,” Senator Husted said on Thursday, “a lot of people don’t know that it’s happening.”

SB-2241 , introduced by Husted on July 10th, specifically targets labor trafficking, and would require training for certain Department of Labor employees to recognize signs of human trafficking.

“What that does is it leads to tips,” the senator said. “You find survivors and victims, from them you can find the perpetrators of these crimes and then you can give those tips to law enforcement, and they can go make arrests.”
