Bedford Montessori School, a private school at 24 Tirrell Hill Road in Bedford, is in the early stages of adding a new 3,500-square-foot building to its campus, which could let it serve almost twice as many students.

Contractors brought a concept proposal for the addition to the Bedford Planning Board on Monday night, hoping to get feedback and address possible concerns before formally applying to build it.

Matt Walsh, co-owner of Eckman Construction in Bedford, said the expansion will allow the school to increase its student body from about 35 to 60 students and address the “significant needs for childcare resources in this area.”
