If you have student loans, the state is giving you another chance to be paid back up to $5,000 this year.

The Connecticut Student Loan Reimbursement Program aims to relieve student debt for residents who have volunteered in their community.

The portal to apply reopens Aug. 15. The program was launched in January with $6 million.

“We had such success in January when the program opened and we got several million dollars out the door already," said Representative Eleni Kavros DeGraw, who advocated for the program.
