ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10)---If you’re a National Grid gas and electric customer, expect your bill to go up by about $22 in September.
In a vote Thursday morning, all seven Public Service Commissioners voted to approve an increase in National Grid rates over the next three years.
Monthly National Grid electric bills will go up by approximately $14.32 in year one, $6.44 in year two, and $4.34 in rate year three.
And when it comes to gas bills, average monthly total bill impacts for residential customers are about $7.66 in year one, $8.08 in year two, and $9.18 in year three.
"No one up here wants to approve a rate increase, but we have an obligation— a legal obligation to ensure that we have a safe and reliable system and that our citizenry depends upon," said Commissioner Denise Sheehan.
