MECKLENBURG COUNTY, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) -- North Carolina State Highway Patrol troopers are launching a new initiative to go after dangerous drivers on the Interstate 485 loop.
The campaign comes after a late-July crash on the highway west of the airport that killed six people.
If you haven't already, expect to see a greater law enforcement presence on the interstates. The campaign is called "I-485 Alive" and is aimed at reducing the number of fatal crashes.
"A lot of people texting, speeding, not staying in their lanes," said one man about his experience driving on Charlotte-area interstates. "Just not paying attention and just cause big accidents and here lately, that's what's happened."
