IVINS, Washington County — Snow Canyon State Park recently made history as the first state park in the nation to launch a fully automated, annual pass-only entry lane.
The system was designed and built by Utah Tech University students in conjunction with Utah's Parkspass program.
Officials said the new "scan-and-go" lane has been a hit with both visitors and park staff since its opening and will streamline access, reducing wait times for the nearly 1 million annual park visitors.
The automated lane is part of Snow Canyon's broader push to improve visitor experience, safety and traffic flow. The park unveiled additional upgrades, including increased entry fees to manage surging visitation, expanded parking and enhanced trail safety measures.
